NEXT MEETING, JUNE 2… U.S. Senator Thad Cochran will be our speaker.

LAST MEETING, MAY 19… Bill Hudson, CEO of Hudson Salvage, Inc., gave us a delightful and entertaining look at life and what we can make of it. Balance is everything, Bill told us, and those who emphasize one aspect of their life while sacrificing others will eventually pay a price. Most often, he said, we concentrate on career to the detriment of family, and that’s not good. Bill shared with us his father’s road to success in all aspects of life, written on a napkin – first have a GOAL, then develop a PLAN, and make sure you have the DESIRE. Bill operates a very successful family salvage company, and said he came to grips long ago with the fact that he’s a buzzard in a world full of would-be eagles. To achieve success as an entrepreneur, he said, you need to be either better, faster, or cheaper. He chose cheaper. Thanks to Program Chairman Danny Williams for arranging and introducing this program.

ONE HAPPY RESULT… of our recent PolioPlus campaign is the fact that twelve of our members or spouses are now Paul Harris Fellows or repeat Fellows. Added to the list since last July have been Danella Catchings, Sylvia Walker, Lewis Lipscomb (repeat), Jimmy Chandler, John Louis, Leonard Thomas, Howard Catchings (repeat), Sister Dorothea, Ann McKee, Barbara Dorr, Chuck Staten, and Gib Ford. Congrats to all!

COMMITTEE PREFERENCE SHEETS ARE DUE… and President-Elect Haden Hughes has given us an extra two weeks to get them in. If you haven’t completed one yet, please do.

PRESIDENT’S CORNER… A big THANK YOU to the 308 members who responded to the survey regarding changing the meeting location. The results will be presented to the Board soon and then to the entire membership. Your assistance is still needed in our continuing effort to increase membership. If you have a co-worker, business associate, or friend that you can recommend, please let us hear from you. A total membership report will be given at the next meeting. – Howard
