NEXT MEETING, AUGUST 4… our speaker will be Clint Herring, who will tell us about Township Colony Park.

LAST MEETING, JULY 28Justice William Waller of the Mississippi Supreme Court told us how the state’s highest court is organized and how it works. He acquainted us with each of the nine Justices and gave us some information about their backgrounds, and then went into some detail about their duties and how the justice system works in Mississippi. Justice Waller outlined the procedures used in Justice Court, Municipal Court, County Court, Chancery Court, and Circuit Court before appeals are directed to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court then either retains cases or assigns them to the Court of Appeals. Justice Waller answered numerous questions about the Court, about election procedures, and about the appeals process. Thanks to Jeff Lundy for arranging and introducing this program.

THAT INFORMATION SHEET… that you got along with your dues statement a few weeks ago is important. We’re getting information ready right now for the new picture directory, and we really need to have up-to-date telephone numbers, addresses, and e-mail information. So dig out that sheet from the stack on your cluttered desk, fill it in and either mail it to us, fax it to us, or bring it to the next meeting.

YOUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS… has approved the following new member proposal. If no objections are received within seven days, she will be introduced to the club as a new member:
Jill Beneke, President and CEO, Pileum Corporation. Jill was proposed by Henry Holman.

ANOTHER REMINDER: DUES ARE DUE… and will be OVERdue after August 10. Let us hear from you, either by phone, fax, or e-mail, before we assign you to the deadbeat file. Cash, checks or credit cards are acceptable. Heck, we’d probably accept a Western Union moneygram.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS… here, so you can mark your calendar accordingly, is a listing of upcoming programs…
• August 4: Clint Herring, Township Colony Park
• August 11: Lou Campanosa, Tulane on the Coast
• August 18: Steve Hutton, Farm Bureau Classic

Committee chairmen need to get their reports to their directors by Monday, August 4. District Governor Kay Steed and ADG Mark Doiron will participate also. – Haden
