NEXT MEETING, AUGUST 12… we’ll hear a timely report from Janice B. Brooks, Mississippi Department of Human Services.
LAST MEETING, AUGUST 5… fellow Rotarian Charles Doty, President and CEO of Lextron Corporation, told us how his company began just a little over a decade ago and grew into a positive force in Mississippi. Lextron, manufacturer of electronic equipment, was, in 1990, a one-man operation in Dick Acker’s Business Incubator. From an initial contract with BellSouth, Lextron subsequently began manufacturing key components for AT&T, General Motors, Boeing, and the new Nissan operation in Canton. They now have 180 employees, and that amount is expected to more than double in the coming year. Charles said that three factors make up his business philosophy: 1) maintain integrity and earn the trust of your customers every single day, 2) trust employees and allow them to do their job, and 3) most importantly, trust in God to help you do the right thing. Thanks to Program Chairman Danny Williams for arranging and introducing this program.
PRESIDENT’S CORNER… a note from President Howard: We had only one new member the first month of this Rotary year. Many of you indicated on your questionnaire the names of people that you would like to recommend to become members. One way to get your prospective members interested in Rotary is to bring them to one or more of our meetings. For informational purposes, the cost of a new membership is $100 one-time membership fee, $125 dues for each six-month period, and $50 to become a Paul Harris Sustaining Member, for a total of $275.

DUES AGAIN… Since the 10th of the month falls on a Saturday this time around, we’ve decided to give you until next meeting, August 12, to pay your Rotary dues without incurring a penalty. But beware! Mr. Nice Guy only extends to Monday. After that, late payment will cost you an extra ten bucks.
