NEXT MONDAY, NOVEMBER
5... our speaker will be Bill Lee of Gulf Guaranty, who will
talk to us about German Submarines in the Gulf of Mexico. Sounds interesting,
doesn't it? Come and hear.
LAST MONDAY, OCTOBER 29... Charles Barbour of the Hinds
County Board of Supervisors talked to us about how the county is doing,
how we're spending our tax money, and what the future looks like. He told
us about road projects that are designed to make it easier for people
to live in the county and work in the city, especially in the Byram-Clinton
corridor. He also spent a good deal of time talking about and answering
questions about the Two Lakes plan for flood control and economic development.
Thanks to Ben Allen and Julian Watson, who arranged for
this interesting program.
DON'T FORGET
our next Rotafest will be held next week,
on the evening of November 5, at the Costas Lodge. It's a great
time of fellowship with other Rotarians. If you didn't pick up one already,
a map showing how to get there will be available at next Monday's meeting.
This is for Rotarians only, no guests or spouses, and it's one of the
highlights of the year, so plan to be there.
YOUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
has approved the following new member proposals. If no objections are received
within 10 days, they will be introduced as new members:
David Barrentine,
President-Jackson Division, Bancorp South. David was proposed by James
Threadgill.
Greg Schulmeier,
President, Academic Performance Institute, Inc. Greg was proposed by Billy
Walker.
FOR THOSE WHO ATTEND BUT DON'T EAT LUNCH
we're going to
try something new. Next week, a couple of tables will be set up without
silverware and beverage especially for Rotarians who choose not to eat
lunch at the meeting. You don't HAVE to sit there, of course, but it
might be easier to do this than to have to set up new tables during
the meeting. Give it a try and let us know what you think.
NO MEETING ON NOVEMBER 12
because we'll be celebrating
Veterans' Day. Mark your calendars now.
