THERE WILL BE NO MEETING ON NOVEMBER 10 AS WE CELEBRATE VETERANS’ DAY

BUT WE WILL HAVE A ROTARFEST THAT EVENING… at 6pm on Monday, November 10, in the Ethnic Heritage Center at the Ag Museum. Park at Smith-Wills and walk over the footbridge (they’re paving our parking lot that day). Come for lots of food and fellowship – and a chance to make up a meeting. Rotarians only, no spouses or guests. And the club foots the bill!

NEXT MEETING, NOVEMBER 17… Rod Barnes, Basketball Coach at Ole Miss, will be our speaker.

LAST MEETING, NOVEMBER 3… Dr. Pat Jordan, Southern Regional Research Center, gave us an overview of the important work being done by his organization.

THE ROTARY SPOTLIGHT…swung around on November 3 to shine on Mike Pepper, with the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation. Congrats, Mike.

NOMINATIONS FOR OFFICE… were made by the club on November 3, and are listed below. A sample ballot will be available at our next meeting, November 17. At our regular meeting on December 8, we will elect a President, a Vice President, and six Directors.
Nominated for the 2004-2005 Rotary year:

  • For President: Danny Williams
  • For Vice President: Ron Applewhite, Mickey McCardle. (one to be elected)
  • For Director: Judy Adams, Ben Allen, Joel Bobo, Michael Booker, Duke Cain, Michael Caracci, Rodney Chamblee, Mike Cottingham, Mary Fortune, Joe Jones, Mark Saxon, Janet Scott.
    (six to be elected, to serve two-year terms)

    PRESIDENT’S CORNER… Your Board of Directors recently had its quarterly meeting. I want to thank all of those members for their time and support. Also, thanks goes to Bill Dawson for the great job he does and to Howard Catchings for his continued interest and support. Action taken that should interest you: 1. The Sweetheart Banquet will be unique this year -- watch for upcoming information. 2. All Mentor Scholarship donations will go 100% to fund scholarships -- no prizes or expenses will come out of donations. 3. Members can elect to become Paul Harris Sustaining Members and be billed with their dues. 4. Fred Neil's Care/Concern/News Committee is now the Family of Rotary Committee in keeping with Rotary International's emphasis on caring for each other. - Haden.
