WE WILL NOT MEET NEXT MONDAY, FEBRUARY 21,
AS WE OBSERVE PRESIDENTS’ DAY.

NEXT MEETING, FEBRUARY 28…we’ll hear from Glenn McCullough of TVA.

LAST MEETING, FEBRUARY 14… Ken Murphree, President of the Delta Council, gave us an overview of the important work done by this organization, which represents 18 counties in northwest Mississippi. Ken noted that the Council’s work is primarily in three areas: agriculture policy, transportation, and flood control. The Council has also been active recently in economic development, support of higher education, health care access, and wildlife conservation. He gave us fascinating details about each area (did you know the Mississippi drains water from 31 states and 2 Canadian provinces?). Thanks to Brad Prewitt for arranging and introducing this program.

WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS… numbers 21 and 22 of this Rotary year. Introduced to the club on February 7 were...
¦ Susan Lindsay, Headmaster, Jackson Prep. Susan was introduced by her proposer, Mark Saxon.
¦ Steve DeSalvo, General Manager, Mississippi Braves. Steve was introduced by his proposer, Mary Fortune.

YOUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS… has approved the following membership proposals. If no objections are received within seven days, they will be introduced as new members:
¦ Barry Burks, Ross & Yerger Insurance. Barry was proposed by Mickey McCardle.
¦ Arnold Landry, Scout Executive, Andrew Jackson Council, Boy Scouts of America. Arnold was proposed by Robert Leard.
¦ Henry Jones, Director of Research & Development, SmartSynch, Inc. Henry was proposed by Clark Love.
¦ Liz Carroll, President, Carroll Communications. Liz was proposed by Janet Scott.

REMEMBER THE POSTCARD… you got with last week’s Rotagram? Don’t waste time - fill it in and mail it to the office. We’re anxious to get on with printing our new picture roster book, and NEED THAT INFO.

PRESIDENT’S CORNER… In the coming months, look forward to many exciting things happening at your Rotary Club. Bill Allison, Program Committee Chair, promises a continuation of excellent programs; you don’t want to miss any of them. If you know of a member that you have not seen lately, give them a call and encourage them to come join us. Our District leadership has scheduled our District Conference for April 22-24. It will be at Lake Tiak-O-Khata, Louisville. If you are interested in learning more about Rotary and enjoying some great fellowship with other Rotarians, please contact Bill Dawson. One other area you will be hearing more about is why it’s important for you to consider becoming a Paul Harris Fellow or Paul Harris Sustaining Member (Every Rotarian Every Year). Finally, please welcome our newest members, Susan Lindsay and Steve DeSalvo. Yours in Rotary, Danny
