NEXT MEETING, MAY 16… our speaker will be our own Colonel Brad MacNealy. LAST MEETING, MAY 9… Mississippi State head football coach Sylvester Croom gave us more than a peek at next season – he gave us an insight into his coaching philosophy. He said that success in football is similar to success in any other endeavor – you have to (1) have a plan, and the guts to stick to it, (2) understand the situation, and (3) be realistic in your expectations. He said that leadership in coaching, as in business, depends on having good assistants, knowing their strengths, and entrusting them with the responsibility for getting the job done. Don’t look for perfection, he said, because you sure won’t find it. Instead, own up to the mistakes you’re bound to make and learn from them. He also told us about his team’s prospects. He said that he certainly wasn’t happy with last year’s 3-8, but thinks that he has laid the foundation for better things to come. The players who stuck with the program this year are keepers, he said. They know there’s a price to be paid for success, and are willing to pay it. Thanks to Julian Watson for introducing this program. YOUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS… has
approved the following membership proposals. If no objections are received
within seven days, they will be introduced as new members: WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS… numbers
33 and 34 of this Rotary year. Introduced to the club on May 9 were: DON’T FORGET TENNIS... our annual tennis tournament is Wednesday, May 18, at 3 pm at the River Hills Club. Sign up with Chairman Johnny Louis at Monday’s meeting. Or call him at 601 362-8877. PRESIDENT’S CORNER… I
continue to have many of you make positive comments about the quality
of our programs. I would like to thank Bill Allison and the Program
Committee for a job well done this year. As most of you know, today’s
program with Coach Croom was one of the best yet. You don’t
want to miss the one next week either. One of our own, Colonel Brad
MacNealy, will be our guest speaker. He just returned from Iraq,
so let’s turn out to hear another great program and to support
him. Thanks to all of you for inviting guests to our club today.
This is a great way to introduce friends and associates to our club.
It is also a great way to bring in a new member. Speaking of new
members, I would like to add my welcome to our two newest Rotarians,
Linda Raff and David Powe. Welcome! Yours in Rotary, Danny
